The Diploma in Aviation Science is a very exciting prospect where you are able to gain all the qualifications required for employment in the aviation industry while studying for a Diploma or even a Degree. This adds extra value to your qualifications and also opens up full student loan funding in association with Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology, therefore making it easier to achieve financially.
Duration
Two years full time.
Course Dates
Intakes are in February and July each year.
Prerequisites
You need to:
- be at least 17 years of age
- hold a Class 1 Medical Certificate
- 12 credits at Level 2 NCEA or equivalent
All applicants acceptance onto the course will be subject to an interview with Mainland Aviation College staff.
Course Content
All students will complete the following:
- A Private Pilots Licence
- A Commercial Pilots Licence
- A Multi-Engine Instrument Rating
- Four (4) Core Aviation Science Papers
Students then chose between the following:
- Diploma in Aviation Science (Management)
- Two (2) further Aviation Science papers
- Two (2) Management papers
- Diploma in Aviation Science (Flight Instructing)
- C Category Instructor rating
- Diploma in Aviation Science (Air Transport (ATPL)
- Six (6) Air Transport Pilots Licence theory papers
By selecting the Diploma in Aviation Science (ATPL) you can obtain a Bachelor in Aviation Science by completing a further four Aviation Science papers and one project.
