Instructor Rating (C-Cat)
C Cat Instructor Rating Courses are 12 weeks (minimum) full time.
You need:
- a minimum of a New Zealand CPL or NZ CAA validated equivalent licence
- at least 150 hours logged as Pilot in Command

The cost is based on 25 hours dual instruction in a Cessna 152. The cost includes Tuition, Flight Test fee & Licence Issue
Courses are available on demand subject to student numbers. The Instructor Rating is formally structured as the final part of all Professional Pilot courses.
To obtain an Instructors Rating, you must successfully complete a flight and ground assessment with an ASL approved flight testing officer, which normally takes a full day.
This course is the most common method of initial employment to enable students to consolidate their knowledge and increase their flight experience to levels required by the airline industry. Graduates,who have trained with Mainland right from the start,who excel are often offered employment as a Flight Instructor for Mainland Air. The Instructor rating also provides the ability to apply for Check and Training / Instructor positions once employed in an airline.
